For question 1, you need to:

- Only shade 4 answers.
- If you shade more than 4, the examiner will take the first 4 as your answer.
- You should only be spending 3-5 minutes on this question.

- Use comparative connectives such as: however, on the other hand, contrastingly.
- Give evidence from both texts (2-3 pieces from each text).
- Use SQUID to build your answer.

For question 3, you need to:

- Use PEZL to build your answer.
- Must analyse language choices (WLA).
- Discuss subject terminology, and talk about the effect. if you cannot remember, just say ‘the word…’
- Tell the examiner what that technique does, not just what it is.
- Link your WLA back to the text. Do not just tell the examiner definitions of words, generally.
- 2-3 quotations needed, discussed in depth

For question 4, you need to:
A
- Pick out quotations that link to the question, and show different attitudes (opinions).
- Analyse key words/phrases (WLA).
- Identify and discuss writer’s methods (techniques).
- Offer a comparison, looking at how they view things differently.
- Use the phrase, ‘the writer uses….which creates the impression that…
- Make 3-4 points, referring to both texts
