Q

Why do countries want empires? Give 4 reasons.

A
  1. After a war, the winning nation may take over the defeated one and include it in their empire - in a way as a punishment for losing the battle.
  2. They want more resources and take over other countries to get what they want.
  3. Others take over countries just to get to stop rivals getting it first.
  4. Some countries invade other countries because they feel like they have the right to own the country, or felt like they were doing the country a favour by teaching them a new way of life.
