Smoking causes arteries to be blocked which prevents the normal flow of blood. It can cause heart attaches or strokes.

A
Chemicals in tobacco smoke affect the alveoli in lungs which reduces the amount of oxygen that can passes into the blood making the person breathless.

Respiratory infections
A
The cells lining the windpipe produce mucus which traps dirt and microorganisms. Chemicals in tobacco smoke allow mucus to flow into the lungs making it harder to breathe and causing infection.
