Paediatric Assessment Triangle
APPEARANCE =Tone, Interacting, Consoluable, Look, Speech or cry
WORK OF BREATHING = Listening, Looking
CIRCULATION TO THE SKIN = Colour, perfusion
Hypovolaemic Shock
Position, O2, Keep child warm, Stop any external bleeding, Fluids (normal saline) 20ml/kg (medical) titrated against
5ml/kg (trauma) DO NOT OVERLOAD
10ml/kg (burns) over 1hr
haemodynamic responce
REMEMBER - giving fluids unnecessarily can cause cerebral oedema in children with head injury
Distributive Shock
O2, Fluids (normal saline) = relitive hypovolaemia
Anaphylactic = adreniline
Cardiogenic Shock
O2, transport Fluids (normal saline) 10ml/kg
Obstructive Shock
Trauma Cardiac Tamp. = Decompression
