Many statute laws don’t effect the constitution however if they do it requires a simple majority (1/2+1) by parliament
whats common law
known as case law its made by judges its seen as setting the example. makes a ruling on current issues and sets the standards e.g. murder is a crime
give an example of common law
R JOGEE if you are part of a group and one member killed someone the entire group could be found guilty however the supreme caught over turned this and a group can only be found guilty if there is an intent to kill
whats convention
regularly observed practice they aren’t leagly biding it’s a practice adopted over time for example every year known as the knocking of the door for the opening of parliament
Whats a treaty
EU laws now known as treaties- if EU law was made Britain would have to follow if EU law and British law collided EU law would be seen as higher and would must follow EU law
