What Are is Nervous System Flashcards
What is the nervous system made up of??
The nervous system is made up of two parts, the central nervous system (CNS) and the Peripheral nervous system (PNS)
What do both of the systems do together?
Both parts work together to allow for rapid communication within our body by sending electrical signals along nerves.
What is the central system made up of??
The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord. It is the processing of the system, receiving messages from all parts of our body and organising for responses to happen if required.
What is the peripheral nervous system made up of?
The peripheral nervous system is made of all of the nerves that connect to our central nervous system. It is important as it allows for messages to be sent to the CNS for processing and will then transmit introductions back to muscles or organes so that a response can happen.
What are receptors?
Receptors and sense organs( groups of receptors) allows us to detect stimuli
What are receptors named after
Receptors are named according to the type of stimuli that they respond to
What is thermorécepteurs?
Are sensitive to temperature
What is mechanoreceptors?
Are sensitive to movement, pressure, touch.
What are Chemoreceptors?
Are sensitive to particular chemicals
What are photoreceptors
Are sensitive to light
What are pain receptors
Are sensitive to chemicals releases by damaged
What are the human sense organs?
Eyes, Mouth, Nose; Skin, ears
What are the types of receptors present in eyes?
Photoreceptors
What is the type of receptor present in a mouth
Chemoreceptors, thermoreceptors
What are the type of receptors that are present in a nose?
Chemoreceptors
