Homeostasis Flashcards
What is homeostasis
Homeostasis is the process of maintaining a constant internal environment for our cells to function properly
What systems does the homeostasis rely on?
It relies on the nervous system and the endocrine system working together
Where do we detect changes?
We can detect changes in our environment (internal, and external) and respond appropriately
What do the responses do?
Sometimes our responses are conscious and sometimes they happen without us thinking about them.
We can use a stimulus- response model to explain how this occurs
What help you to regulate our responses?
Feedback mechanisms help to regulate our responses our responses switch off when they are no longer required.
