Cicero
Thinker who readily accepted stoic values. He drew heavily from the stoic’s moral and ethical teachings in adapting Hellenistic thought to Roman needs. He emphasized the individuals duty to live in accordance with nature and ready and arugued the pursuit of justice was the individuals priority and scorned cheaters
Mithraism
A cult dedicated to the Persian deity Mithras (a god closely identified with sun and lights), one of the most powerful religions of salvation. It became popular in the Roman army when they adapted it to their interests while serving in the Hellenistic world. They associated Mithras with military values
Deadseascrolls
Essence writings discovered by shepherds by accident that shed light on the sect and its beliefs. The community formed a strict moral code, participated in rituals, admitted new members after being baptized in water and took part in ritual community meals. They also searched for a savior to free them from Roman rule
Christianity
Christianity was one of the most popular religions of salvation that was a community formed around their savior Jesus who was killed believing to have been a threat by assuming suggesting god was more powerful than the Romans. It gained a great following and its practices and teachings vary having its bible being its holy book.
Paul of tarsus
The principal figure in the expansion of Christianity beyond Judaism who was a jew. His doctrine called for individuals to observe high moral standards and place their faith ahead of personal interests. He taught gods life and promised a glorious existence to the faithful. He made several trips to spread Christianity but died in Rome
