Pax Romana
Period of peace brought by Augustus when he ended civil disturbances to the empire and even areas stretching beyond. Some discouraged this time like Tacitus a wealthy aristocrat because it resulted in loss of political courage. There was minimal expansion.
Roman roads
Extensive roads reaching combined length of over 80k km constructed for multiple purposes such as military and trading purposes. Immediate travel and messaging was made possible. Augustus’s successor Tiberius was able to travel 270 km in a day. Skilled ingineers prepared a deep bed, edges with curbs, provided for drainage, and topped off with others flat paving stones.
Twelve tables
Written laws formed as a result of political stability produced by the Pax Romana. Made by jurists for all people including the newly conquered as Rome was expanding. Basic law codes that established rules such as the convicted being innocent until proven guilty, serving to provide social order.
Roman trade as urbanization
Trade was being facilitated especially when Roman road creation caused an increase in trading and reduction in transportation time. Trade was increased cause seas were being protected and there were prominent trade routes. Cities were scattered and contained luxuries such as stadiums amphitheaters pools circuses and more. Trade and urbanization created immense amounts of wealth for Rome
Paterfamilias
The eldest male of the Roman household who were dominant and held the control to arrange marriage for his offspring, determine the work everyone would do, punish members for offensive actions, and sell members into slavery or execute them. Women often influence family affairs and gained power such as possessing a great amount of land.
