Q

A

Karrie and Will abruptly yelling up the wall of a cliff to find carbon in a tree that weighs a ton.
**First four are the coastal zones, from north to south:

—Wallcliffe (home to 2 of the “first five”)
—Karridale

—Carbunup on the Geographe Bay
—Treeton is an inland region :warmest summer day time temps, but also the greatest diurnal variation.

*Dr. Gladstones established the 6 unofficial subzones of Margaret River, catalogued not by soil profile but by the drainage direction for the region’s numerous rivers and creeks, which corresponded to the direction of the air flow systems.

What is the “Gladstones Line”?

A

—An agronomist, who in 1965 presented his research on the suitability of Margaret River for grape growing (with a similarity to Bordeaux, he suggested Bordeaux varieties). The “Gladstones Line” (line of longitude 115° 18’ E) established the modern appellation’s eastern border, following alongside the Whicher Range.
—In 1999 he proposed 6 unofficial subzones of Margaret River, catalogued not by soil profile but by the drainage direction for the region’s numerous rivers and creeks, which corresponded to the direction of the air flow systems.
