A

Calling off passive resistance in the Ruhr.
- it was bankrupting Germany, coal exports could resume, earning Germany money.

A

November 1923
Hyperinflation had destroyed the value of the German mark.
The rent mark was issued in small amounts, it gradually restored the confidence of the German people in the currency

A

Germany signed treaties with France, Britain, Belgium and Italy. They agreed to keep existing boarders between them. This helped France feel secure and boosted cooperation between them.

What was the Treaty Of Berlin 1926?

A

In April 1926 Stresemann signed thinned this Treaty with the USSR.
Stresemann thought the Treaty would put mild pressure on the West to improve it relationship with Germany through fear of Germany moving closer to the USSR.

Was the time between 1924-28 completely peaceful for the Weimar Republic?

A

Although extremist parties did not gain mass support, they still made an impact on the streets. There were frequent fights between the Nazis, with their SA, and the KPD, with it’s paramilitary Red Fighting League.

Why was the Reichstag still not stable between 1924-29?

A

There were 6 Weimar Governments in this time, each with a short coalition. Most did not have a secure majority in the Reichstag. Largely due to the PR system.

Was the election of Hindenburg a good sign for Weimar?

A

Hindenburg did nothing unconstitutional and may have attracted more conservative people to the republic. However it was ominous to have someone uncommitted to democracy with such great powers

How successful was Stresemanns foreign policy?

A

Germany lost nothing by signing Locarno, being a part of the League of Nations was good for Germany.
However, concrete gains from his diplomacy were not great. Final withdrawal of allied troops only happened after his death.
