Q

Why wasn’t the Munich Putsch a complete failure?

A

The leaders of the putsch were treated leniently by the
courts. Hitler was able to use his trial to publicise his ideas. He
used his time in prison to write Mein Kampf, to change his strategy
(to seek power legally rather than by force), and began the process
of reorganising the Nazi Party (creating a national structure)

Q

What was the significance of the Kapp Putsch?

A

the Putsch once again showed the vulnerability of the Republic. The main leaders were
never punished and von Seekt, who had refused to allow the army to help the
republic, was actually promoted. Also between 1921 and 1922 there were 354 political murders
carried out by right-wing extremists - showing that the threat from the right had not gone away
