what was the Treaty of Versailles

A

The document marking the end of WWI between Germany, UK, France and USA. The big three, David Lloyd George, Georges Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson, made Germany take blame for WWI and pay for the all of reparation fees. It could be argued that the Treaty of Versailles was one of the main causes of WWII.

Hyperinflation

A

In 1923, hyperinflation was the result of the government printing more money to pay for the reparation fees. Consequently, as more money was printed, the value of each mark became less and less until it was worth next to nothing. People were better off burning their money than using it to pay for coal to burn
