Why was a new constitution created?
Germany had lost the war and in an attempt to not be heavily punished in TOV they set up a democracy
What was the revolution from above?
With the abdication of the Kaiser, Prince Max of Baden became chancellor of Germany in September 1918
What was the revolution from below?
Came late into the war when widespread muting began to occur in the military and the soldiers joined with industrialists striking against the kaiser.
What was article 48?
Power given to the president to pass laws without them going through the reichstag often in periods of national emergency
What was Proportional reperesentation?
It is an election system where the number of votes a party recieved in an election was represented by number of seats they were then given in gov which allowed extremist parties to be able to get into reichstag. So for every 60,000 votes they achieved they got one seat and so made it hard for parties to get a majority
How did the judiciary undermine the Weimar Republic?
They were biased to the right wing nationalists comapared to the left wing parties and of the right wing members who murdered politicians and 326 of 354 were let off.
When did president Ebert come to power and what year did he die
Ebert came to power in November 1918 and died in 1925

What are the reasons for the failure of the Weimar Gov
The gov relied on coalitions to survive but none ever lasted very long and relied on the SPD, German Democrats and ZP to keep gov alive
What were the positives and negatives of President Ebert?
pros: He used article 48 to fend of communism. And also had good trade relations.
cons: His acceptance of TOV was very unpopular, Ebert- groener pact gave army too much independence.
Who was the chancellor between 1923 and 1928 and what did he do?
Streseman and he got the french to leave the ruhr and watched over the reforms which saved economy such as the Dawes plan in 1924 but had unpopular foreign policies to the RW view

He was able to reduce the reperations germany owed and also introduced the young plan in 1929
