What happened in September 1918?
The Hindenburg line was breached due to 2 million fresh US troops which led to Generals Hindenburg and Ludendorff telling Wilhelm 2 that the war was lost and they didn’t want to be involved in any surrender to keep there reputations.
What was the causing factor that led to the signing of the Ebert-Groener pact in Nov 1918?
Sailors at Kiel Naval base mutinied and further strikes began to occur at major cities such as Berlin and Munich.
What was the Stab in the Back myth?
Emerged at end of 1918 and was a factor which undermined the new german democracy as the blamed defeat on the Jews and Communists and not on the military.
What happened at the ToV?
Set out the treaty and punishment Germany would face for the war, of which Germany was not involved in deciding. Led to Germany losing territory such as the Polish corridor and Alsace Lorraine. As well saw disarmament of the military and foreign control of the Rhineland

Chancellor Bauer and Erzburger held vote to accpet Tov with result of 237 to 138 and June 28th Muller by delegation signed the ToV
Economic consequences of the Tov?
Led to the hyperinflation crisis in 1923 as well as passive resistance where workers went on strike.

What happened at the Spartikist uprising?
KPD had become powerful enough to cause a large general strike in Berlin, however it failed due to Eberts use of the Freikorps to restore order as KPD leaders and many followers were killed.
When was the Bavarian Republic?
March 1919
What happened with the Bavarian Republic?
Many on the left hadn’t given up hope on radical form of gov and for next 4 yrs gave continuous threats of revolution, but in May 1919 this gov was crushed by the Freikorp and a RW gov put in charge of Bavaria.
When was the Ruhr uprising?
March 1920
What happened at the Ruhr uprising?
The Red army controlled large parts of the Ruhr for several weeks, and put pressure that govs reliance of army showed weakness so the gov had to use Freikorp to crush them and led to 1000 deaths of workers.
What was the Red fighting League (RFL)
Paramilitary organisation dominated by the KPD and was founded in 1924 and often involved with clashes with the SA. It though only lasted 5yrs.
