weight and terminal velocity Flashcards
what is the equation for weight?
weight, W (N) = mass, m (kg) x gravitational field strength, g (N/kg) - (obvs u can rearrange this equation)
what is air resistance?
air particles being pushed out of the way by a moving object + push back.
why would liquid resistance (drag) be larger for the same object that falls in air?
the resistance force will be greater for a liquid as more particles per second need to be pushed out of the way
what is terminal velocity?
The maximum speed of an object, reached when the forces moving the object are balanced by its frictional forces.
what happens at terminal velocity?
At terminal velocity, the object moves at a steady speed in a constant direction because the resultant force acting on it is zero
