Weight and Balance Flashcards
1
Q
What are the effects of a forward Center of Gravity?
A
C.G. that is relatively forward (but not out of range) affects the aircraft in the following ways.
- More longitudinally stable
- Less controllable
- Higher stall speed
- Slower cruise speed
- Longer takeoff roll
- More difficult to flare
2
Q
What does it mean when an airplane is more longitudinally stable?
A
- Involves pitching motion about the lateral axis.
- Longitudinally stable means aircraft will naturally return to same attitude after being disturbed.

Q
Weight Shift Formula
If you move something backwards it ________ the total moment
A
If you move something backwards it increases the total moment, so you would add the difference in lbs/inches
