Authoritarian, Legalistic, Humanistic
Authoritarian style means what?
Minimizes importance of people, you are a cog, replaceable/expendable, you don’t really matter but the services you bring DO matter.
What are employees two options under authoritarian style managers?
Do as you are told or leave
Explain legalistic management style
Managers interact with strict regard to legal requirements and employee rights
When did legalistic style begin?
1930s, with passage of Labor, wage hour laws, expanded in 1964 with Civil Rights
Define Humanistic mgmt style- what are 2 influences?
Legislation & human relations movement
Which management style is parent/child?
authoritarian
Define scientific management style
Goal is efficiency, think Amazon warehouse, etc, focuses on process and production, ignoring the people. Thinks about role vs people.
