Refers to information that somebody using honest judgement would need in order to decide to report that a child may be in need of protection
Do you need to be sure before making a report?
No. You only need to reasonably suspect to make a referral
Is it your responsibility to prove that your concerns are true??
No, this falls to the CAS, as they have the necessary expertise
If you’re nervous, can someone else call in for you?
No
Are privacy and confidentiality barriers to making a referral to CAS?
No. They should not be seen as such
Do you need to identify yourself when reporting to CAS?
Yes. You must when making a report to CAS

Yes as of 2018
What are some types of harm?
Neglect, physical, emotional, exposure to intimate partner violence, sexual abuse
Who is a person having charge?
Primary or community caregiver
Who could be a community caregiver?
Bus driver, coach, recreational group leaders, teachers, coaches
what does neglect require?
A pattern
What are some signs of neglect?
Poor hygiene, continually tired, frequently not at school, missing basic clothes, regular missing meals
Will they ask if the child is indigenous when you call and report?

Should you ask leading questions about what has happened to the child?
