Some from descending thoracic aorta, some from other branches of the aorta
What direction do the external intercostal muscles lie in?
Antero inferior direction

Intercostal nerve

Right atrium
What receives the pulmonary veins?
Left atrium
What has 2 papillary muscles?
Left ventricle (mitral valve)

What has a rudimentary valve at its right atrial orifice?
IVC

SVC (azygos arches over right lung root and empties into SVC at the level of the 2nd right costal cartilage)

Descending thoracic aorta
What are anterior and inferior at the hilum of the lung?
Pulmonary veins

Where would needle be inserted in the intercostal space?
Lower margin, avoid injury to main intercostal neurovascular bundle
Where would you drain a pneumothorax?
2nd IC space in mid clavicular line
or
5th IC space in mid axillary line
Where are the 4 sites of constriction of the oesophagus?
Origin
LMB
Aortic arch
Near termination (through diaphragm)
Where does lymph from medial breast drain?
Parasternal lymph nodes
Where does the phrenic nerve pass through in the diaphragm?
R: IVC opening
L: left dome
