What is a dietary supplement?
a product taken by mouth that contains a dietary ingredient that is intended to supplement the diet.

- Does it increase target tissue concentration of this substrate/compound?
- Whether an increase in concentration has a beneficial effect on normal biochemical or physiological function during exercise?
- Does the increase in concentration have a beneficial effect on exercise capacity or fatigue development?
What are the 4 risks of supplement use?
- Contamination: poor quality control in manufacturing and storage may result in undeclared prohibited substances
- Absence or lower than declared levels of substance/supplement (“actives”)
