Personal ethics
Individual moral beliefs, values, and attitudes concerning what is right and what is wrong
Where would one pick up personal values?

What are professional ethics
Organisational, corporate, and personal standards of behaviour expected of an individual, typically anchored in principles used to determine appropriate and correct choices
List the overarching ethical principles
- nonmaleficence
- beneficence
- autonomy
- justice
- fidelity
Non-maleficence
- do no harm
- we shouldn’t make decisions that are likely to harm our clients
Beneficence
- do good and benefit society
- check in that what you are doing is actually helping the client
Autonomy
- do not compromise other’s personal control of their lives
- try not to be overbearing and clarify your role
Justice
Act fairly and justly
Fidelity
- be faithful to commitments made
- mean what you say and stick to it
What are pure ethical dilemmas?
Occur when a conflict arises between multiple ethical principles
What are mixed ethical dilemmas?
Occur when third parties have a controlling interest in psychological service provision
