Week 8: Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) Flashcards
1
Q
What is the use of geographically weighted regression?
A
- Looks at local conditions rather than the dataset as a whole
- Indicates the strength of the relationship between two or more variables
- Accounts for the special nature of geographic data
2
Q
What are global models?
A
Statements about processes which are assumed to be stationary and as such are location independent.
3
Q
What are local models?
A
Spatial disaggregations of global models, the results of which are location-specific.
4
Q
What is spatial nonstationarity?
A
When the same stimulus provokes a different response in different parts of the region.
5
Q
How do we address the issue of spatial nonstationarity?
A
Use GWR
