What is primary health care?
Primary helath care ahs an individual and poopulation focus:
“It is the first level of contact of individuals, the famil and community with the national health system brigning health care as close as possible to wehrere poeple live and work”
What are the principles of priamry helath care?

Teamwork and coordination of aptient care

Whata are the essential componenets of priamry health care?
- Proveides preventive health services (immunisation, screening, disease-control etc)
- Provides treatment - ie. curatice and rehabilitative services
- Provides essntal drugs
- Provides education concerning the prevailing health problems and their prevention and control (i.e. health promotion)
- Provides maternal and child helathc are (and family planning)
- Includes promotion of food supply, proper nutrition, safe water and sanitation (health promotion on public health issues)
- Includes community development and advocacy

What are teh 3 different types of disease prevention?
Primary repvention - to prevent the onset of disease (this aims to reduce the incidence of disease)
Secondary prevention - to detect disease early and intervene early to prevent disease a progression (or to cure), in those who are asymptomatic - (About catching it early)

Health promotion is the process of enabling people ot increase control over their health and its determinants, and thereby improve their health
What is the ottawa charter?
The Ottawa charter explains health promotion. It is a statement agreement that:
- Healht is everyones responsibliity
- Ways to ‘promote ehalth’ are broad and do not just involve the ehalths ector
- Participation of people in influencing their own health is paramount
