Emotional detachment from anything that requires emotional reaction (e.g. significant and/or family, relationships, conversation about self, discussion of traumatic events or reaction to them)
What are the immediate Physical reactions of trauma?
Nausea/gastrointestinal distress
Sweating or shivering
Faintness
Muscle tremors or uncontrollable shaking
Elevated heartbeat, respiration and blood pressure
Extreme fatigue and exhaustion
Greater startle response

Is there any treatment helpful for those who have experienced PTSD?
Yes… these often include a combination of:
Psychological therapies (or psychotherpay)
Medical therapies
Complementary therapies
Can healthcare be a traumatising experience for those with past experience of trauma?
Yes! This is often because there are stressors in a health environment/setting that is similar to the circumstance of the original trauma which the person has experienced.
What is Trauma-Informed Care?
A practice that recognises and accepts the experiences of people and their reactions and responses to trauma.
What are the eight foundational principles that represent the core values of trauma-informed care and practice?

What do we mean by Least Restrictive Care?
Is when a person receives the least restrictive, or least intrusive treatment.
What are some examples of ‘restrictive care’?
Being treated in a hospital as an involuntary patient;
Being physically restrained;
Being forced to take medication (AKA: Chemical restrained);
Being physically secluded.
