- Gram and catalase for GP organisms

how to do a hippurate hydrolysis test
A
- Inoculate your organism into a solution that contains
Hippurate and incubate overnight. - Detects if the organism can utilize Hippurate to
produce glycine and sodium benzoate. - Add ninhydrin: if glycine is present, it will deaminate
it and the solution becomes purple. - C. jejuni is Hippurate pos, other Campylobacter
species are Hippurate neg.
