A

What is soft money?

A

Soft money comes after the hard money is obtained, easy money that comes from the government sector. Film agencies won’t put soft money into a project until you get the hard money first.

A

What are Screen Agencies?

A

Government controlled organisations that are given money by either the State or Federal Government to support Australian media product that is broadcast on either Channels 7, 9, 10, ABC, SBS or Foxtel. They also support Feature Films that go in cinemas, documentaries that go on TV, TV Drama, and short films and animations that are entered in filmed festivals.

A

The National screen funding body which distributes tens of millions of dollars into media projects each year. They are able to contribute up to 65% of a project’s budget.

A

What is a Letter of Interest?

A

An indication to the producer and the marketplace that Screen Australia recognises a feature film’s creative and/or commercial potential. It can be an effective tool to help producers complete the project’s finance plan with complementary finance from the marketplace.
