Week 7 Factorial ANOVA Flashcards
Factorial ANOVA
Used to capture the joint effects of X and are reflected in statistical models
Introduces new sources of variance
- interaction - Product of basic X’s (Act as own X, like a product term)
Benefit - reduces the error term by using an interaction effect (Come out of error and become systematic)
Effects in 2- way interaction
Higher order effect - 2 way interaction (Always test significance of this first)
Lower order effect - Main effects
Non significant interaction effect
Mean there is no overlap between sources of variance
Two way Anova
Have 2 main effect and an interaction effect
Three way interaction
Have 3 main effect
Have 3 two way interaction
Have 1 three way interaction
Unbalanced design
total mean is weighted
Look at type 3 ss data in output (automatically generated by SPSS)
Balanced design
Descriptive and ANOVA the same
Emmeans
Estimated marginal means
Three - Way Interaction
Occurs when two factors have different two-way interactions across levels of the third (Moderation of moderation)
