Week 7 - Consolidation Exercises Flashcards
Why do we collect data about assets?
To enable us to make well-informed decisions.
What are the potential sources of data that can be used to gather information about an asset system at the:
Pre-construction phase
- Surveys
- Desktop study
- Costings
- H&S file
What are the potential sources of data that can be used to gather information about an asset system at the:
Construction phase
- Material testing
- Photographs
- Construction drawings
What are the potential sources of data that can be used to gather information about an asset system at the:
Operational phase
- Condition survey reports
- As builts
- Performance data
Describe the ‘Capture’ stage of an Information Management System (IMS)
Human created information (i.e. documents and inspections) and Application created information (i.e. performance data, software outputs) is captured and processed.
Describe the ‘Store’ stage of an Information Management System (IMS)
Information is stored, through a subcontractor or 3rd party depository
Describe the ‘Manage/Deliver’ stage of an Information Management System (IMS)
Information is distributed using processes that control the data and the type, format and frequency of the output.
How can digital technologies help the ‘continual improvement’ process.
Digital technologies can capture and store performance data, which is interpreted and processed to identify problem areas. Solutions can then be trialled and evaluated.
What are the potential advantages that might be encountered when collaborating with digital technologies in the built environment industry?
Information, such as construction drawings, specifications and as-built data can be shared, stored and edited in a BIM compliant medium by all parties.
What are the potential barriers that might be encountered when collaborating with digital technologies in the built environment industry?
Some organisations may not be as digitally advanced, or may not have the finances to utilise the same systems.
Training to use systems/technologies
What are the three types of data?
Graphical, Non-graphical, Documents
