Week 7 Flashcards
1
Q
repeated measures design/within subject design
A
design in which two sets of data are obtained from the same group of participants
2
Q
matched subject study
A
each individual in one sample is matched with an individual in the other sample, and two individuals are equivalent to a specific variable
3
Q
advantages of repeated measures design
A
- number of subjects is fewer in repeated measures design
- study changes over time, you use repeated measures
- longitudinal designs are responsible with more confidence in causal effects
- allows for baselining
- repeated-measure designs reduce/eliminate problems caused by individual differences
4
Q
disadvantages of repeated measures design
A
- participant loss (in longitudinal designs)
- order effects
- sometimes it is practically difficult
5
Q
order effect
A
changes in scores that are caused by participation in earlier treatment
- solutions: counterbalancing
