- is any form of abuse or neglect that a child or adult experiences from a family member or someone they have an intimate relationship with
Define what “honour” related violence is?
-is the term used to refer to a collection of practices used predominantly to control the behaviour of women and girls within families or other social groups in order to protect supposed cultural and religious beliefs, values and social norms in the name of ‘honour’
- ex. forced marriage

Define micro-aggressions

What are some examples of micro-aggressions?
- ageism, genderism, heterosexism, sexism & racism
(ageism = socially constructed way of thinking about older persons based on negative attitudes and stereotypes about aging)
(genderism = systematic belief that people need to conform to their gender assigned at birth in a gender-binary system that includes only female and male)
(heterosexism = prejudice against gay people on the assumption that heterosexuality is the normal sexual orientation)

- one of the largest investigations of childhood abuse & neglect
- categorized into: abuse, neglect, household challenges
What is the root cause of violence?
- larger systemic power structures
- we don’t see the root cause of violence because they are hidden below the surface in systemic structures
Systemic Oppression
broad term describing systemic injustice that intersect and impede peoples aspirations, progression, & quality of life
Ex. racism, sexism, heterosexism
What does the 3P Model stand for?
People, poverty, power
What does the 3P model enable CHN’s to act for?
act for social change
What does the 3P model demonstrate?
demonstrates that violence involves more than individual behaviour
What does the 3P model highlight?
- highlights the importance of empathy to both address & prevent violence
- encourages us to ask “how & “why”
- promotes systemic empathy & self-empathy to prevent violence
