What is the CSRD - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, and what are implementation for companies?
- A law that requires** large companies and all listed companies (except listed micro-enterprises)** to disclose information on what they see as the risks and opportunities arising from social and environmental issues
(ie: DEPENDENCIES), and on the **IMPACT **of their activities on people and the environment.
What is the CSRD supposed to achieve?
supposed to help:
- investors
- civil society organisations
- consumers and other stakeholders to** evaluate the
sustainability performance of companies.**
essentially: The CSRD serves as the instrument for this purpose, because it provides a clearer and more compelling framework for ESG reporting.
What is the Double Materiality Analysis in the CSDR ?
Double materiality analysis examines:
- what your impact on the environment is (impact materiality)
- and the impact of your environment on you (financial materiality). This analysis shows you which topics you need to report on.
The Eu green deal is a general policy strategy, what does that imply?
- Promised to provide more regulations, laws, directives, standards
- Start with aspirational targets, over time and time it becomes more specific in different areas of policy making, coming up with strategies, acts, etc.
- Ultimately come up with laws in the different countries
Conclusion of farm to fork strategy in terms of economics
Green deal : The Commission will propose actions to help consumers choose healthy and sustainable diets and reduce food waste.
Reducing post-harvest food losses in Europe
leads to
-** lower consumer demand** >
- decreased production >
- and reduced prices.
- This shift results in fewer imports and more exports, benefiting trade balances
- farmers experience a decline in income, while consumers enjoy cost savings. Overall, the quantity of food consumed stays consistent due to the reduction in waste.
- Producer Revenue: European farmers earn less because they sell fewer products at lower prices, with their total income dropping by 9.6%.
- Consumer Impact: European consumers spend less on food (7% less) because they buy less food overall and benefit from lower prices. However, the actual amount of food they eat doesn’t change much because previously wasted food is now being used efficiently.
