What is stress ?
•State of arousal of mind and body in response to demands made on the person, any change, negative or positive may cause stress
What is physical signs of stress
•Physical signs: increased bp & hr, sweating, muscle aches, fatigue, appetite changes, headaches, gi distress (increased sympathetic nervous system response)
What are physiological signs of stress?
feeling anxious, depressed, difficulty sleeping, irritability, difficulty concentrating
What are stressors?
•Stimulus or event that requires coping or adaptation
How does job stress affect nurses
•reduced efficiency
•irritability,
•a sense of constant pressure against time
•diminished motivation
•poor judgment, accidents
•care errors.

What is conventional therapy ?
•Health care professionals treat symptoms/illness with medication, surgery, procedures
•Standard treatments undergo research process to prove they are safe and effective
