What is the mucosa layer of the GIT comprised of?

A
  1. Epithelium tissues: mostly simple columnar epithelium and goblet cells for secretion.
  2. Lamina propria: loose areolar connective tissue with capillaries for nourishment and absorption.
  3. Muscularis mucosae: smooth muscle that produces local movement of mucosa.

What is the submucosa layer of the GIT?

A

Dense connective tissue with glands, blood/lymphs (MALT); also has submucosal plexus (neural network) - controls secretion.

A
