Why is it difficult to detect if GH supplements have been taken?
A
- Can not distinguish between exogenous (from external source) or endogenous (made in the body)
- GH has a pulsatile increase (therefore, peaks unexpectedly)
- Due to genetics, GH levels can he higher
- Has a short half life of only 20 minutes

A
Ghrelin: the orexigenic hormone or hunger hormone
- Increases gastric secretion and motility
- Acts at arcuate nucleus of hypothalamus to increase appetite

- Ghrelin is secretagogue for GH
- Increases GH secretion
- In response to low FFA and AA, the GH increases to stimulate the brake down on glycogen and fats
