Vesicles that break open to form painful lesions

What are characteristics of syphillitic genital ulcers? Buzz words?
painless chancres sometimes accompanied by papulitic rash on palms of hands and soles of feet
later complications can cause:
- gummas
- thoracic aneurysm
- tabes dorsalis
- snuffles (congenital)
- hutchinson’s incisors (congenital)
What are characteristics of chancroid genital ulcers? Buzz words?
painful lesions accompanied by regional lymphadenopathy
gram negative rod
What is lymphogranuloma venerum
painless ???? caused by chlamydia L1-L3
What causes urethritis/cervicitis
Chlamydia and N. gonorrhea
What does gonorrhea cause in men?
urethritis, prostatitis, and epididymitis
What does gonorrhea cause in women?
cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease
What does gonorrhea cause in infants?
conjunctiva
How do you diagnose gonorrhea?
gram negative diplococci on Thayer Martin media
What is vaginitis?
characterized by vaginal discharge, itching or odor

Cottage cheese discharge
diagnosed with wet mount

Malodorous gray discharge caused by Gardnerella vaginalis and other anaerobes
