Test fading memory, letters flashed on/off, tone after short delay (1 letter)

After delay asked to report stimuli

Length of numbers person can remember 7 +- 2
Chunking
Putting words together in meaningful sentences
Baddeley proposed 3 components of working memory:
- Phonological loop (verbal & auditory)
- visual sketch pad
- central executive
Phonological similarity effect
Confusion of letters/words that sound similar
Articulatory suppression
Reduces memory because speaking interferes w rehearsal
