What is a fire separation?
A construction assembly that acts as a barrier against the spread of fire and smoke
What is a Fire Resistance Rating (FRR)
Time in hours or minutes that an assembly can withstand the passage of fire and transmission of heat
What is the FRR for a firewall?
2 or 4 hour requirements
What does a fire rated steel floor require?
-requires to spray fireproofing or GWB encasing
How are concrete slabs fire rated?
By minimum thicknesses and minimum rebar cover.
What is the typical FRR for Concrete Shafts for exit stairs or elevators?
1 or 2 hours, usually matches required floor separation rating
