What is an acupuncture point?
Definition: The acupuncture points (acupoints) are the specific sites through which Qi of the Zang-F organs and meridians are transported to the body surface.

History: the number of points on meridians:
160 – in 2000 years ago (Yellow Emperor’s time);
349 - in 215-282
354 – in 1027
359 – in 1601

What are the therapeutic effects of acupuncture? (3)
Local and nearby effects : for all points, a local and nearby affect - neck point for neck pain, base of scalp… eye condition. (local / nearby the problem)
Remote Effects: Based on meridian theory, Especially below elbow and knees used to treat zang-fu and tissues. Ex: Liver yuan source point to treat liver.
>Systemic effects (SP10 is a point to influence blood, so use to treat blood disorder) Ren 6 is Sea of Qi. Good points to tonify.
