Week 5 Flashcards
What technologies will we use for the project exercise?
Trello
What are the 4 principles of using project man tools e.g. Jira or Trello?
1) Visualise work. We also need to cut back on the documentation
2) Limit work in progress
3) Metrics to measure how well you’re doing
4) Continuous improvement
How do we compare Kanban to Scrum?
Scrum:
- 3 lanes
- has a fixed iteration cycle
- has a team structure (Scrum Master, etc) but Kanban doesn’t
- both use MoSCoW system in prioritisation.
What’s the difference between work in progress and work in process?
Work in progress: total amount of work still to be done.
Work in process: story cards that we’re actually working on (so the sprint or iteration backlog).
Scrum doesn’t have this WIP terminology, they are just measured by the two different types of backlogs.
What is a Kanban queue?
All of the tasks you could be working on but you can’t because the lane is full.
What is the lead time?
The time it takes for an item to be delivered to the customer.
What is the cycle time?
The av time that an item stays in one lane.
What is the throughput in kanban?
The same as velocity in Scrum. Average number of items processed in a given time.
What is a swim lane?
Goes horizontal
