Selective reporting bias?
When published articles are more likely to report sig results.
Selection bias?
Systematic error in the recruitment of P’s. To
Performance Bias?
Differences in the performances of the P that occurs due to knowledge they have acquired about the study
Attrition Bias
Happens when a P leaves a study
Detection Bias
= Some part of the instrumentation makes a systematic error. Can be cause by poor data analysis. The person collecting may not be blind
Reporting bias
Researcher does not report what he found. They only report sig results.
Publication bias
Missing studies
You can tell if a range of studies have publication by looking at the funnel plot.
Systematic error?
Multiple studies would get the same wrong answer. It is not imprecision (random error) and consistently over/under estimates an effect.
Random Error?
The error sometimes over and sometimes under estimates and effect.
