Week 5 Flashcards
1
Q
Explain the cAMP pathway
A
an increase in cytosolic cAMP concentration is a result from Gs GPCR pathway, cAMP then will activate cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and then PKA enters the nucleus and activates CREB, CREB is a CRE-binding binding and is a transcription factor for genes with a CRE. CREB also recruits a co-activator called CREB-binding protein (CBP)
2
Q
Explain the CaM-Kinase pathway
A
when there is Ca2+, CaM kinase is produced which can phosphorylated CREB to increase transcription of genes with a CRE
