What are the CHI (consumer health informatics) technologies?

A
  1. Personal health records (PHR): same as EHR but managed by the consumer/patient.
  2. Patient portals: websites of the health authorities.
  3. Personal health applications social networking: help of others with the same condition as you. More information passing by, but some is misleading and could contradict what the actual doctor recommended. To avoid this, sometimes doctors or nurses attend these forums.
  4. Apps.

  1. Engaging the patient: for example, how many people use an apple watch for healthcare and not for vanity.
  2. Improve available information.
  3. Improve communication among consumers and providers.
  4. Improving consumer decision-making: helping consumers picking the best treatment.
