What is Research?
Key definition for academic research -Research is diligent and systematic inquiry or investigation into a subject in order to discover or revise facts, theories, applications, etc.
Study, looking closely at things, collecting data, special, specific methods (eg. qualitative), science, formal presentation, formal process.
Research is creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge.
It involves the collection, organisation, and analysis of information to increase
understanding of a topic or issue.
Why is Research Important?
Research is a massive industry. Information/knowledge starts from research and understanding it is important in everyday life.
If we didn’t have the ability to perform and consume research, we would have to rely on other people and their own thoughts and opinions, which aren’t always trustworthy
Research is trustworthy - Based on understanding and critically evaluating sources of information
