A clear definition of Learning Disability
A learning disability is a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities - for example household tasks socialising or managing money - which affects someone for their whole life.
People with a learning disability tend to take longer to learn and may need support to develop new skills, understand complicated information and interact with other people.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) advises that a
learning disability is defined by three core criteria NICE
2015):
• Lower intellectual ability (usually an IQ of less than 70).
• Significant impairment of social or adaptive functioning.
• Onset in childhood.
Definition of Somatisation
Manifestation of Psychological distress and how people express themselves through physical
symptoms.
