The forms cualquiera and cualesquiera are used after the modified noun. When used before the modified noun, the apocopate forms cualquier and cualesquier are used instead:
cualquier cosa: “whatever thing”
una cosa cualquiera: “whatever thing”
The adjective is sometimes used substantively with the noun implied but omitted.
