Unstructured (traditional) interview
A
- interviewers are unprepared
- interviewing questions are unplanned
- no constraints on the questions to be asked
- often are influenced by first impression, contrast effect and stereotyping
- line managers tend to blame the HR for poor hiring
- there is no pre-sent selection criteria
- an untrained interviewers body may effect the responses of the applicants
- variations in the cognitive ability of the interviewers may affect the hiring decisions

1) Interviewing questions should be based on a job analysis
2) Ask same questions to each candidate
3) Limit impromptu (unplanned) and follow-up questions (may cause bias according to answers)
4) Ask better questions (background, job knowledge, past behavioural questions)
