Q

What are the dominant narratives and their critiques?

A

The central logic is white supremacy is distracting Korean and Black people from the real enemy. An example is the scapegoat thesis: black ownership of stores is neglected by capitalism by the structure of white people but they blame the people closest to them which is Koreans. Another examples is Cultural misunderstanding (human relations framework) which is South Koreans knew nothing about race in the U.S. and did not know about black oppression or they were fed radicalized logic of U.S. before entering.

Q

What is the dominant narrative of Korean American violence and criticism?

A

Korean American violence was justfieied because they were innocent bystanders in a war and were at risk of losing everything. Koreans had to inflict violence because they had to defend themselves without any police protection. The problem with this is that Anti-black violence is not legible as violence .
