What is lyme disease
a bacterial infection transmitted to humans through ticks carrying bacteria (usually bufgoris)

Case definition of lyme disease
clinical evidence of disease without history of residing in area of lyme disease prevalence
or
clinically observed EM rash without lab evidence but with history of residence in or visit to lyme area
age range of most common for lyme
5-9 and 60-85 age range
and increases in the month of july
