What is the main purpose of a Transaction Processing System? (TPS)
- Process data that results from business transactions.
2. Update operational databases and produce business documents.
Name two types of data processing
- Batch Processing - Transactions data is accumulated over time and processed periodically, e.g. overnight
- Real-time/Online Processing - processed immediately after a transaction occurs.
Name three transactions that could occur in a business.
Sales, Purchases, Deposits, Withdrawals, Refunds, Credit Checks, Customer Billing, Inventory Changes.
What are the five Core transaction processing systems?
- Sales Order Processing - captures and processes customers orders.
- Inventory Management - Processes data reflecting changes in inventory (stock and materials)
- Purchase order processing - Captures and processes orders to suppliers.
- Finance - Records amounts owed by customers and produces customer invoices.
- Payroll - Records employees work and produces payslips.
What is the goal of an Enterprise Resource planning system? (ERP)
Enable easy access to business data and to create efficient, streamlined work processes. Uses a single-relational database.
What does an effective ERP give to a company?
A real-time integrated view of its core business processes, e.g. production, order processing, inventory management.
What are the three phases of CRM in regards to a customer?
Acquisition, retention and extension
How could the integration of both CRM and social media improve customer orientated processes?
- Improved sales and market alignment.
- Access to decision makers.
- Shorter slaes cycles.
- 360-degree view of the client.
